PCAOB To Host Virtual Workshops To Assist Smaller Audit Firms With Implementation of New Quality Control Standard

Washington, DC, Jul. 2, 2025

Taking place on July 17 and July 31, the events continue the PCAOB’s extensive efforts to provide QC 1000 implementation support

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) will host two virtual workshops designed to assist smaller audit firms with the practical implementation of QC 1000, A Firm’s System of Quality Control. The events will be held on July 17 and July 31 from 11:00-2:30 p.m. EST.

"The PCAOB is dedicated to supporting smaller audit firms, recognizing their crucial role in safeguarding investors," said Chair Erica Y. Williams. "We are pleased to offer these virtual sessions, which can help firms prepare for the implementation of QC 1000 and provide another opportunity for the PCAOB to gain insights into the distinct experiences of smaller firms.”

The workshops – which are specifically geared toward individuals at smaller audit firms who are directly responsible for implementing QC 1000 – will provide hands-on activities related to the practical implementation of the new standard and opportunities to engage directly with PCAOB staff ahead of the December 15, 2025, effective date. Topics that will be covered at the workshops are the following:

July 17: QC 1000 Foundations, The Firm’s Risk Assessment Process, and QC System Components That Address Aspects of the Firm’s Organization and Operations

July 31: The Monitoring and Remediation Process, Evaluating the Firm’s QC System, and Documenting the Firm’s QC System

The PCAOB hosted two similar in-person workshops this spring in Washington, DC, and Irving, TX. The topics covered in the virtual workshops were the same as those covered at the in-person events.

Registration Required for July 17 and July 31 Virtual Smaller Firm Quality Control Workshops
