Centre extends RoDTEP export incentive scheme until March 2026

Sep 30, 2025

Synopsis
The Centre has extended its flagship RoDTEP export incentive scheme until March 2026, responding to exporter demands for financial support. This crucial scheme reimburses exporters for non-refunded taxes and duties on over 10,000 products, offering 1-4% rebates, particularly vital after the U.S. doubled tariffs on Indian goods.

Centre on Tuesday announced an extension of its flagship export incentive scheme, the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP), until March 2026, as per a commerce ministry notification.

RoDTEP reimburses exporters for taxes, duties, and levies—imposed at the central, state, and local levels—that are not refunded under any other programme, but are incurred during the manufacture and distribution of export products.

The scheme was originally scheduled to expire on September 30.

The extension comes in response to demands from exporters for financial support following the U.S. doubling tariffs on Indian goods, with levies reaching up to 50% on products including textiles, leather goods, and food items.

Currently, RoDTEP provides incentives for over 10,000 products, spanning agriculture, textiles, and engineering goods, offering rebates of 1%-4% of product value in compensation for taxes paid by exporters.
