GST fraud of Rs 100 crore busted

The Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Intelligence Wing (IW), regional unit, Jamshedpur, has busted a racket of GST fraud of over Rs 100 crore.

The investigation team of the intelligence wing on Wednesday raided the house of a coal trader Sandeep Kumar at Ara road in Ramgarh district and seized documents pertaining to the tax fraud.

"The proprietors of the Lakshya Coal and Transportation Company have pulled off the multicrore fraud through registration of bogus companies in different states," said a senior GST Jamshedpur unit official speaking over phone from Ramgarh.

The proprietors Sandeep Kumar and his father Dileshwar Prasad are accused of generating fake invoice bills in the name of dummy companies.

The GST official said that Sandeep is absconding while Dileshwar is at home.

"The raid at the office cum residence is ongoing and shall continue on Thursday," said the official.

The official said that the estimation of the tax fraud would go beyond Rs 100 crore as the investigation concludes.
